THE CAPITAL

It is said that a city can be described through a single panorama, a colour, a scent, an object or even an idea: and it is precisely those nuances, imperceptible and evanescent, that sometimes transform into indelible memories.

Over the centuries, the magic of Rome has been told on paper by the words of poets and writers, wonderfully depicted in the works of great artists. Eternal and mysterious, the Capital envelops those who arrive in a pleasant “mal di Roma” that does not abandon, and it is no coincidence that millions of tourists rush to throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain with the hope of returning to visit it: because in Rome, remembering the words of Goethe, everything is as you imagined it and everything is new.

WHAT TO SEE

Rome is a city rich in history and culture, with attractions that cannot be missed on an itinerary. The Colosseum, symbol of ancient Rome, is an unmissable stop. The Vatican City, with St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, offers an immersion in art and spirituality. Piazza Navona and the Pantheon are extraordinary examples of Baroque and ancient architecture. The Trevi Fountain, iconic and evocative, is perfect for a romantic stop. Finally, the Imperial Forums and the Palatine Hill allow you to walk among the ruins that tell the story of the eternal city.

The heart of Catholic Christianity, Rome is the only city in the world to host within its borders a foreign state, the enclave of Vatican City: for this reason it is often called the “Capital of two States”.

VATICAN CITY

The Vatican, the world's smallest sovereign state, overlooks the historic center of Rome. This independent statelet is home to some of Italy's most famous works of art, many of which are on public display for visitors to the Vatican Museums. The city also features a number of excellent restaurants and souvenir shops, and of course, the famous St. Peter's Basilica. Most pilgrims flock to the Vatican during the most important times of the liturgical year, such as Christmas or Easter.
